Arts Immersion at ExYo
We welcomed a group of incoming ninth graders from Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School to the studio for a two week summer Integration Program exploring collaboration through a multi-disciplinary lens. This fun-filled program included Master Drummer Joh Camara teaching traditional African drumming. Guest artist Carlos Thomas (STOMP) led youth in experimenting with unconventional items collaborating to create music. Guest artist, Quincy Giles brought his acting skills to various warm ups and activities. Youth focused on creating Stardust Portraits reflecting on their best selves that will be displayed at the school. This program was a good introduction to entering ENSATS students this September, bringing their newfound friendships and tools of collaboration, connection, and discovery that we have explored at the Express Yourself studio.
