Exploring Multidisciplinary Art Processes
Youth experimented with an innovative approach to pattern-making by using the technique of batik on fabric. In this process, they applied glue to fabric to create the designs. The combination of glue and a mixture of ingredients helped to preserve the vibrant colors of the fabric by creating a protective barrier that prevented the dye from fading.
After washing the glue off their beautifully designed batik fabric, EXYO youth began constructing five ethereal puppets that will take center stage at our annual performance on May 22nd! Using a variety of fabrics, they skillfully wove them through chicken wire frames to bring these animals to life.
