Exploring Narwhals at the Peabody Essex Museum
The Narwhals have come to Salem!
Youth explored Narwhals at the Peabody Essex Museum. Their magnificent spiral tooth has inspired art, legends, and cultural practices for centuries and continues to inspire our youth in their own art making back at our studio. Youth were excited to learn about these fascinating creatures and loved their connection to unicorns. The rhythms and sounds allowed youth to dive underneath the surface as they heard the whale communications echoing throughout the exhibit. They said it sounded like “bubbles popping, a storm, ducks, and ice breaking.” This was truly enjoyed by all.
