EXYO Youth are back in the Studio!

“Surprise, I’m here!”

WOW! Cried one of our youth as she leaped into the newly renovated studio on opening day.

Our returning youth and mentors were greatly surprised to see the colorful renovated studio. Thanks to a generous grant from the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation, youth entered the welcome office area created to facilitate even more collaboration amongst hardworking artist/administrative team. Our old storage room was converted into 3 work spaces, where smaller groups can meet for individual or small group sessions, providing availability for conversation and creative exploration.

We are so excited to welcome back our Multi-Arts groups into the studio this week. There are many fresh new faces, as well as old friends – all ready to dive into creating art.

COMMUNITY. COLLABORATION. CO-OPERATION

Mentors met for the first time in the renovated area as returning youth were introduced to our working model, the foundation of all the work we do at Express Yourself. Sparked their own creativity they explored through collage individual characters including superheroes, out of this world beings, and nature inspired creatures. Every youth revealed their playful imaginations and personalities in this opening exploration. Special thanks to Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation for providing a grant for us to create  a beautiful and welcoming studio space enjoyed by the entire community.

We can’t wait to see what this year has in store for our youth!
