NEA Chairman Jane Chu Meets EXYO Mentor Rachel

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu was recently featured at an event hosted by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) to highlight a recent NEA grant to the National Guild for Community Arts Education. Chairman Chu discussed the importance of creative youth development, which integrates the arts, humanities, and sciences with youth development principles.

Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) invited Express Yourself Mentor Rachel and Express Yourself Co-Director Paula Conrad to attend this special reception at the Boston Symphony Hall highlighting new investments in creative youth development. Rachel was recognized at the event as one of the recipients of an Amplify Pilot Grant for her work coordinating the exciting Parasol Project, which was part of Express Yourself’s annual show at the Wang Theatre with their 22 year partner, the Department of Mental Health. It is now continuing on as an exhibition for Beverly Arts Fest and the Illuminate Reception at Endicott College on September 22nd.
