Samba Soul
Guest artist, Marcus Santos, and his group of samba drummers are bringing a splash of Brazilian soul to this year’s Express Yourself performance at the Boch Center Wang Theater. Marcus has been working in the studio with students from North Shore Recovery High School for eight weeks developing original rhythms and movements to be combined with his group’s traditional Afro-Brazilian drumming. North Shore Recovery High School has been participating in Express Yourself for nine years and their enthusiasm is always a highlight of our show. The students have been delighted to work with Marcus this year, as he brings a palpable energy and excitement to the studio. The whole piece will come together at the Boch Center Wang Theater on May 25, as students, samba drummers, dancers, and singers will light up the stage for SOUL.
