Lori Vance

Lori served as Executive Director of Express Yourself Milwaukee from 2002 to 2020. Lori is a Licensed Art Therapist, a Certified Independent Clinical Social Worker and an Art Psychotherapist. Lori joins the Massachusetts Express Yourself team as a Therapeutic Supervisor, overseeing the work of our graduate interns. Lori holds a MSC in Community Counseling from University of Wisconsin’s Department of Education Psychology and a BA in Art Therapy from Mount Mary College.

Emily Surabian

Emily began her time with Express Yourself as an undergraduate intern in 2017 and has been a visual artist and administrator since. In 2018, she received her BFA in Art Therapy from Endicott College and is currently working towards her MPS in Art Therapy and Creative Development through the Pratt Institute. Emily brings her love for process-oriented mixed-media work to Express Yourself when working with the youth, encouraging the importance of both the process and the product of the work. 

Astin Stratoti

Astin joined the EXYO team in 2018 and is a multidisciplinary artist and theatre instructor specializing in large scale puppeteering and construction, scenic and set design, and a variety of technical craft skills. Astin holds a BFA from Montserrat College of Art with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Arts and minor in Creative Writing.

Taylor Saunders

Taylor Saunders is a visual artist who is currently in the second year at Lesley University (Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy). Taylor is also an alumna of Endicott College where she received a BFA with a major in Art Therapy. Taylor is passionate about the power of arts to bring community and ground individuals in a way that supports their social-emotional well-being and growth.

James Maroney

James is an Emmy Award-winning videographer who has been shooting and editing for more than 30 years.  He has been with Express Yourself since 1996, producing and creating the videos that document our process and performance. In addition, James produces videos for business websites, historical documentaries, and various non-profit educational programs.

Erin Johnston

Erin began her time with Express Yourself in 2011 as a production assistant and joined full time 2018 as an administrator and movement/theatre instructor. She holds an MFA from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and a BA in Theatre from Dalhousie University. Erin has a passion for helping youth find their creative voice through storytelling and movement. Erin’s new position as Assistant Director will be mentored by the executive team.

John Hatab

Since 1997, John Hatab has been the Technical Director and Art & Theatre certified teacher specializing in set building and theatre at the Concord School District. John collaborated with Paula and Stan in the early days of Express Yourself, joining the Express Yourself team in 2019 to help facilitate large-scale set design for the Boch Center Wang Theatre final performance. John holds a M.Ed from Plymouth State University and holds BFA from the University of Hartford. 

Laraine Cicchetti

Laraine is a sculptor and visual artist and has been with the Express Yourself visual arts team since 2018. She holds a BFA in Sculpture and a MFA in Fine Art Education (K-12) from Boston University for the Arts, and served as an art certified Educator for K-5 in the Beverly Public Schools from 1986-2018.  

Wes Bruce

Wes Bruce is a multi-practice artist, educator, poet, and designer. For the last decade, Wes has worked professionally creating large-scale, site-specific installations, exhibitions, and projects that are deeply engaging, exploratory in nature, wildly expansive in imagination and paired with education opportunities. Wes has collaborated and worked with youth on visual set design for the Express Yourself culminating performance for the last two years. Wes Bruce has a degree in Art Education and has been doing art workshops and community programming professionally for over a decade, with a focus on creative teen programming. Wes collaborates with museums such as the Peabody Essex Museum and The New Children’s Museum San Diego as well as organizations, architects, engineers, fabricators, libraries and galleries. 

Aleah Gates

Aleah joined Express Yourself in 2015. She holds a BA in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University. At Express Yourself, Aleah works on both the administrative side of the organization and works with youth, creates, records and facilitates workshops. She helps to create campaigns for social media, donor management and assists with creative event planning.

Carla Hollett Winthrop

Since 2004, Carla has served as a visual artist with Express Yourself and has been inspirational in her approach to art and set design. In 2004, she received her BFA from UMass Amherst. Carla brings her skills and creatively inspires youth who are interested in working with her both collaboratively and individually. She has been pivotal with the collaborative visual arts team in developing a cohesive set design for the final performances at the Boch Center-Wang Theater production.

Lyn Towne-Smith

Lyn is a stage manager with a BA in theatre arts from New England College. She has been with Express Yourself since 2010 and serves as a stage manager for Express Yourself’s Citi Wang Theater final performances.
