We Remember

Express Yourself mourns the loss of two recent students from North Shore Recovery High School who were creative participants in our program during the pandemic both in outdoor settings and in studio workshops.

“We really are grateful to work with Express Yourself. We’ve seen so much peace, joy, laughter and smiles in the studio. Express Yourself provides a space that takes away the pain -even for a moment.”  Devin NSRH staff member

In the 12-month period that ended in April, more than 100,000 Americans died of overdoses, up almost 30% from the 78,000 deaths in the prior year, according to provisional figures from the National Center for Health Statistics. The initial pandemic lockdowns and subsequent fraying of social networks, along with the rise in mental health disorders like anxiety and depression, helped create the crisis.  – excerpts from Boston Globe

We send our condolences and best wishes to the friends and families of Chantel and Sam as we continue to work in the studio with their classmates supporting them throughout this time.
